Brampton Assembly has been idle since early 2024; retooling was paused in February 2025, leaving roughly 3,000 workers on 70% pay.

In October 2025, next-generation Jeep Compass production was moved to Belvidere, Illinois as part of a US$13B U.S. expansion.

A 2026 proposal to assemble Chinese knock-down kits at the plant was rejected by the union and both governments; the plant still has no confirmed product.
